“An Introduction to the Branches of Judaism”
Edward C. Halperin MD MA is the Chancellor/CEO of the New York Medical College and professor of radiation oncology, pediatrics, and history.
He will describe the general historical trends which have produced the sects and/or denominations of Christianity and Islam and compare and contrast these trends with those that have affected Judaism, the demographics of the branches of American Judaism, the historical and theological distinctions between these branches of Judaism, and will particularly parse the distinctions between the branches of Orthodox Judaism.
